Coherence Intelligence (CQ) is a sensemaking and adaptation capability. It enables people, teams, and organizations to interpret complex conditions, regulate engagement, and adapt action without fragmenting identity, judgment, or integrity. In practice, CQ is the ability to stay oriented inside squeeze conditions, accurately interpret competing signals, and respond deliberately rather than reactively.
CQ operates across three interconnected system levels:
CQ is not a personality trait, mindset, or leadership style. It is an integrative capability that determines whether adaptation remains sustainable, or whether clarity, judgment, and capacity gradually leak as people and systems absorb unresolved tension in order to function.
It is a working model, still being developed and refined through research, practice, and application. CQ is not an assessment, a score, or a personal trait. It is a way of thinking about whether conditions support or collapse sensemaking across individual, team, and organizational levels.
You do not need to understand CQ to engage with the Reclaim Method. It exists to support practitioners, facilitators, and future certification work.
You might naturally associate this work with resilience or adaptability. Both have been essential capacities in modern work, helping people withstand pressure and adjust to constant change.
This work does not replace those ideas. It builds on them. What we are seeing is that resilience and adaptability, on their own, are no longer sufficient for the conditions people are working under today. When pressure is constant rather than episodic, resilience can quietly turn into endurance. When expectations shift faster than people can orient, adaptability can turn into constant self-editing.
People are still coping. They are still adjusting. But something essential starts to erode in the process. That is where Coherence Intelligence comes in.
Coherence Intelligence is the capacity that governs how resilience and adaptability are used. It helps people respond to change without fragmenting, over-performing, or losing internal alignment.
It allows adaptation to happen without asking people to abandon parts of themselves to keep up.
Rather than asking people to be more resilient or more adaptable, this work focuses on the conditions that allow those capacities to function sustainably and in relationship with one another.
When resilience, adaptability, and coherence are integrated, the result is adaptive integrity: the ability to respond to change while remaining internally aligned, grounded, and whole.

Coherence Intelligence does not exist on its own.
It emerges from a small set of foundational human capacities
that shape how squeeze conditions are interpreted, carried,
and responded to. These capacities determine whether adaptation remains deliberate and sustainable, or whether clarity, judgment,
and energy gradually leak as unresolved tension accumulates.
Across individuals, teams, and organizations, they shape whether
effort builds momentum or is quietly diverted into managing ambiguity, friction, and misalignment.
The Reclaim Method works with four core capacities:
Identity Anchoring
The ability to remain grounded in who you are and what matters when expectations collide or roles blur.
Meaning Integration
The ability to make sense of competing signals and demands without fragmenting attention or effort.
Contextual Discernment
The ability to distinguish what truly matters from what merely feels urgent, expected, or politically safer.
Capacity Regulation
The ability to pace engagement and effort so adaptation does not gradually narrow judgment, choice, or self-trust over time.

Coherence Intelligence shows up differently at each system level, while being shaped by the same underlying dynamics: how squeeze conditions are interpreted, how tradeoffs are named or avoided, and how adaptation unfolds over time.
At the individual level, CQ influences decision quality, boundary-setting, and the ability to respond to competing demands without drifting into chronic overextension or self-erasure.
At the team level, CQ shapes shared understanding, coordination, and trust when priorities conflict, decisions are unclear, and responsibilities blur.
At the organizational level, CQ influences strategic coherence, the sustainability of change, and the risks created by unresolved contradictions in structure, incentives, and authority.
Across all levels, CQ reveals whether effort is building momentum through alignment, or whether capacity is quietly leaking as people and systems carry what has not been decided, resolved, or designed.

The Coherence Intelligence framework draws from multiple bodies of research and practice
that examine how humans and systems interpret pressure, coordinate effort,
and sustain judgment over time.
These include:
Rather than treating these as separate lenses, CQ integrates them into a single
diagnostic orientation focused on capacity, coherence, and sustainability, rather than performance theater.
CQ is informed by an integrative approach to human development and organizational systems.
It draws on adult development theory, integral theory, systems thinking, organizational psychology, and applied research on adaptive capacity to understand how pressure is experienced and responded to across individuals, teams, and organizations.
Instead of optimizing performance, CQ examines whether the conditions surrounding the work allow people to remain oriented, coherent, and able to adapt without carrying hidden costs over time.

The Reclaim Method applies a coherence lens across individual,
team, and organizational levels to support
deliberate participation rather than default response.
Using this lens, people can clearly see:
This clarity makes it possible to decide:
Our role is not to prescribe action or tell people what to do.
It is to restore clarity, so choices are made deliberately, rework is reduced, and change has a chance to hold.
Coherence Intelligence provides orientation.
It helps people see the squeeze conditions they are operating inside and how effort, attention, and decision-making are being shaped by unresolved demands and contradictions.
The Reclaim Method provides application.
It works with that orientation to help people reclaim clarity, judgment, and agency inside those conditions, rather than slowly trading them away to keep functioning.
Together, CQ and Reclaim allow leaders and organizations to assess whether change is possible and sustainable before asking people to carry it.
When coherence is present, adaptation becomes deliberate and selective. When it is not, performance may continue for a time, but capacity quietly leaks and internal costs accumulate.
